Snorlax Facts:
- Introduction: Snorlax is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Munchlax when leveled up with high friendship.
- Appearance: Snorlax is a huge, bipedal Pokémon with a dark blue-green body and a cream-colored face, belly, and feet. Its body is mostly its belly, with small limbs and a large head with small, pointed ears and two pointed teeth protruding from its lower jaw.
- Abilities: Snorlax is known for its incredible appetite, consuming about 900 lbs. (400 kg) of food per day before returning to its slumber. It can eat even moldy food without any ill effects.
- Habitat: In the games, wild Snorlax can be found sleeping in inconvenient locations, blocking paths. Trainers must awaken it with music from a Poké Flute or similar device.
- Anime Appearances: Ash caught a Snorlax in the episode “Snack Attack!” It has appeared in various episodes, often showcasing its immense strength and appetite.
- Design Inspiration: Snorlax’s design is inspired by a combination of a bear and a food coma, as it eats large quantities of food and then sleeps. It may also be based on the cave bear.
- Name Origin: The name “Snorlax” combines “snore” (the sound made while sleeping) and “relax”.
- Popularity: Snorlax is a fan favorite due to its unique characteristics and has appeared in various Pokémon games, including Pokémon Sword and Shield, where it has a Gigantamax form.
